Royal Family Kids’ Camp is a one week summer camp especially designed with the foster child and other at-risk children in mind. These camps are part of a growing network of camps nationwide. The camping experience is geared for success, recognizing the needs of abused, neglected and abandoned children. The activities are non-competitive, non-threatening and fun.

Each child is paired with an adult counselor (there’s a strict ratio of one adult counselor to every 2 campers). All counselors and staff are volunteers who have been carefully screened and trained to work with children in the dependency care system, so you can be assured that the children are in good hands.

The week at RFKC

At camp, the children will receive lots of individual attention in a wholesome environment, participating in a variety of fun and educational activities such as:

Singing, games, Bible stories, hikes, sports, activity centers, games, skits, talent shows, carnivals, and many special events designed for the success and happiness of each child!

The attention of caring adults, building friendships with other children from the “system” and the thrill of successfully completing projects and sports results in a host of positive memories and enhanced self-esteem.

When and where is camp?

RFKC is during the first two weeks of summer vacation … In 2007, camp will be June 11th thru June 16th. Camp is located in Frazier Woods about 45 miles from Bakersfield in the Los Padres Forest.

Here is what the World is saying about Foster Children and Foster Care …

“Today there are between 550,000 and 560,000 children in foster care. Often these are held hostage to abuse and neglect, to bureaucratic foul-ups and carelessness, condemned to futures in which dreams cannot come true. Together with the many more who linger as long as 10 years in protective-custody systems, they are America's generation of lost children, forsaken and forgotten.” Source:Time Magazine NOVEMBER 13, 2000 VOL. 156 NO. 20

This is what God says …

“For I know the thought I think toward you, thoughts of good and not evil, to give you a hope and a future!
Jeremiah 29:11

A Story to Remember

At our Bakersfield, California camp there was a cute brown-haired little girl named Katrina. She came to camp from a very severe background where, among other things, she witnessed her brother’s death.

Katrina had only been at camp less than three hours when, in all excitement, she was sopping wet, covered in mud. She had to take a shower, but when her counselor looked in her trash bag “suitcase”, she discovered Katrina had arrived at camp without underwear. When this was brought to the attention of the camp director, he quickly set out to find her some underwear. The camp is in a small mountain town and department stores are as scarce as skyscrapers. After having no luck at the grocery store, hardware store and clothing store, he tried the pharmacy, where the stores only pair of underwear just happened to be Katrina’s size!” Taken from the book Moments Matter This simple story displays God’s Love for the children that we serve! Please help us to help the children!

Help us “make a difference” in the life of a child by supporting RFKC in prayer, giving or by being a volunteer. Call 661-326-8304 for more information.
