The Role of a Covenant Parent

One Hundred Years from now
One Hundred Years from now
It will not matter
what kind of car I drove,
What kind of house I lived in,
how much money was in my bank account
nor what my clothes looked like.
But the world may be a better place because
I was important in the life of a child.

  • Covenant parents are teachers, caregivers and para-professionals.

  • Covenant parents lead children as part of a strong family unit.

  • Covenant parents need to be willing to work as a team with other professionals and the natural parents (whenever possible).

  • Covenant parents must be willing to learn and be open to receiving input.

  • Above all else, Covenant parents need to be flexible and have a good sense of humor!

In addition to providing day-to-day care and nurturing, Covenant parents help in developing and carrying out their foster child’s treatment plan in partnership with other members of the treatment team.

Treatment plans are designed to help foster children learn skills to:

  • handle their feelings appropriately,
  • develop positive relationships with others,
  • help them succeed in school,
  • help them become responsible members of a family and their community.

All Covenant foster parents have the following things in common – they love, they are compassionate, they are servant-leaders, and they want to make a difference in the life of a child. The role of the Covenant Foster parent is to point children to hope through love and compassionate service!

The Role of the Covenant Support Team

All Covenant parents undergo an intensive training program prior to having a child or youth placed with their family …we provide the training.

All Covenant parents are supported by a professional support team, who will work closely with you and your family throughout the placement. Additionally, we pray for each of our families and children on a daily basis … this is the best support we can give! We provide prayer and support!

During placement, Covenant parents have access to 24 hour on-call services and regular respite care. We provide access to on-call services and respite!
