Faith-Based Community Services
Covenant Community Services (CCSI) provides
a variety of services and supports that are either directly
operated within the faith community or are developed and
implemented by the faith community through the provision of
resources and volunteers. Two of Covenant’s core values are
collaboration and community involvement. We understand our
“mission” to encourage, enlist and educate the faith community
regarding the needs and issues facing many families and children
in Kern County. As a result, we have developed services to
address those needs in partnership with the faith community.
Below are some of the services and supports that Covenant provides:
Professional Services and Training
Service Quality
The quality of any system of support is
dependent upon continued education and professional training. As
such, it is the goal of Covenant Community Services, Inc. to be
a service provider of quality training experiences for our
volunteers, our staff, our parents, the individuals we serve,
and the community at large.
Training Provided
Currently, we provide high-quality informal
training to our foster parents, RFKC staff, church leaders, and
our therapeutic staff. Often training is conducted by “peer
parents” with many years of service or one of our experienced
staff from Covenant. However, we also take advantage of the
many qualified experts in our community to impart knowledge and
understanding regarding the children and families we serve.
RFKC training
The staff and counselors of RFKC receive
over 20 hours of training per year in children’s services
provision. Topics include child resiliency, abuse and neglect
awareness, building self-esteem, behavior management techniques,
understanding families, attachment disorders, and much more.
Covenant Foster Care Foster Parent
Training
Our Covenant Foster Care office has a
lending library of tapes, videos, and books that are offered to
parents for training and enrichment. Additionally, Covenant
provides formal training on foster parenting issues such as
confidentiality, value conflicts, record keeping, active
listening, and general child abuse and neglect training.
Faith-Based Training and Support
The Covenant team is available to provide
training and education in the area of parenting skills, case
management, anger management, grief, starting a support group,
establishing a faith-based ministry, and other related topics to
the field of child welfare as related to the church and other
faith-based ministries.
